At the Centre for Suicide Research we investigate the extent, nature and causes of self-harm and suicide and translate the findings into implications for prevention, treatment and support. We are proud that our work has had tangible benefits in terms of national policy and, most importantly, in saving lives.
We have developed resources for people bereaved by suicide, for parents and carers of young people who self-harm, for prevention of suicide clusters, and for clinicians, including guidance on assessment and treatment following self-harm..
We collaborate with a range of investigators and other stakeholders in both the UK and other countries worldwide and lead the Multicentre Study of Self-harm in England.
