Professor Kam Bhui appointed to MQ’s Science Council, a group of global experts who guide MQ’s research.

Professor Kam Bhui

Professor Bhui leads the CHiMES Collaborative research group in the Department of Psychiatry at Oxford, is Senior Research Fellow at Wadham College and is also Editor in Chief of the British Journal of Psychiatry. MQ is the UK’s leading mental health research charity.

Professor Bhui said:

“I am delighted to join the MQ Science Council to support the discovery of new interventions for mental illness around the world, and to tackle global as well as local health inequalities.

“I will be bringing expertise in experience-driven research, participatory and co-design approaches, as well as cultural epidemiology, public mental health, and the development and testing of culturally effective clinical and systems interventions.”

The MQ Science Council is a committee made up of experts from different fields and backgrounds whose purpose is to plan, monitor and support the research that MQ funds.

Professor Bhui was also recently awarded an honorary fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, its highest award, in recognition of his contributions to mental health research and care.
