Bsc (Hons), MSc

I am a DPhil student in the Translational Neuroscience and Dementia Research group. The project I work on involves using iPSCs-derived neurons and astrocytes as a research model to study their crosstalk and how this plays an important role in sporadic Alzheimer’s disease, aiming to identify potential therapeutic targets related to APOE4 pathologies.

Currently, I am using co-culture of isogenic neurons and astrocytes and neurons cultured with astrocytes conditioned medium to investigate how neurons are affected regarding their morphologies, transcripts and functions and how APOE isoforms may modulate such effects. Besides conventional wet lab techniques and traditional statistic analysis, the project also collaborates with our artificial intelligence professionals to distinguish phenotypic signatures using unsupervised machine learning.
