In-human validation of a novel non-invasive brain stimulation device in healthy adults

The purpose of this study is to compare a new brain stimulator to a commonly used stimulator. The stimulation we use is called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) in which we place a stimulation coil over the head to generate a magnetic field. This stimulates the brain and can cause a finger twitch which we can measure. Participants may experience some discomfort during TMS. By conducting this research, we hope to validate the novel stimulator and enable the exploration of more flexible stimulation parameters and new treatments in the future. For safety reasons we can only include volunteers without a family history of epilepsy and who are not currently taking any medication. This study involves four visits to the Oxford Centre for Human Brain Activity at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford. Each session will take no more than 3 hours.
