I had the incredible opportunity to meet Professor Barbara Liskov, one of the first women to receive a PhD in computer science, Dr Vinton Gray Cerf, the founding father of the internet, and the Nobel Laureates who discovered many of the proteins from our biology textbooks. This conference was a fantastic platform to discuss today's global challenges with world-renowned scientists as well as with early career researchers from around the world. I am very grateful to my supervisors, Professors Klaus Ebmeier and Clare Mackay, and the University of Oxford for nominating me for this unforgettable experience. - Sana Suri
Sana Suri's poster was titled "Reduced cerebrovascular health in young adults at a genetic risk for Alzheimer's disease", based on her DPhil with Professor Clare Mackay. Sana attended the conference together with four other nominees from Oxford.
The annual Global Young Scientists Summit@one-north (GYSS) 2017 took place 15 - 20 January 2017 at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Over 250 of the world’s outstanding PhDs and post-doctoral fellows under the age of 35 gathered with 20 distinguished speakers through plenary lectures, panel discussions and small group sessions.
Speakers comprised Nobel Laureates, Fields Medallists, Millennium Technology Prize winners, and Turing Award winners. GYSS 'provides a platform for the brightest young scientists from around the world to share ideas with one another, and to engage with eminent science and technology leaders'.
