DPhil (PhD) Opportunities for Psychiatry Trainees Interested in an Academic Career

The Wellcome Trust fund a bespoke mental health-focused DPhil (PhD) scheme in Oxford for clinicians at any stage in their psychiatric training.  Fellowships are for 3 years and provide a clinical salary at the appropriate level, fees, and experimental costs. Applications for the 2015 round will shortly be invited. Further information about the scheme, supervisors and projects, and contact details, can be found here (follow links to the 'Mental and Cognitive Health' stream).

The successful candidates will receive training in a wide range of research methodologies and will conduct research leading to the award of a DPhil in their chosen area. The programme places a strong emphasis on translational research. To facilitate this, fellows will have the opportunity to spend one day-a-week working in a clinical unit that specialises in translating research findings into routine clinical care.

The primary selection criterion is evidence of academic excellence and potential.  Up to three places are available, to start in Autumn 2015.

Deadline for completed applications will be 7th January 2015.  If you are interested, and for initial enquiries, please contact information@psych.ox.ac.uk.
