Our team is working in partnership with the Palix Foundation and Alberta Family Wellness Initiative to share knowledge about the science of brain development for families and professionals. The Story aims to articulate the intergenerational cycle of adversity within families and how we can use our scientific understanding to improve outcomes for children and adults in the future.

The Oxford Brain Story has different types of resources to help professionals understand the science of how experiences shape our brains and the long-term implications for mental and physical health. These include a free, self-paced online course, delivered by leading experts within the field; it provides an accessible introduction for professionals of all backgrounds to understand the neuroscience of development and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences. The Brain Story also uses a series of metaphors (with accompanying animations and learning cards) to help the people understand the key scientific concepts.

We are aiming to develop a shared understanding and a shared language across families, professional groups, organisations and policy makers to help us work together to improve  outcomes for children and adults in the future.

Access free resources and please follow us on Twitter @OxBrainStory to keep up to date with events and news.

Please contact Elizabeth and Louise if you would like to discuss how the Brain Story might be relevant to your organisation or place of work; they would be delighted to hear from you!
