Daniel Maughan
Daniel has an expertise in the sustainability of mental health care. This is about providing high value mental health care that has reduced financial costs, environmental impacts and that has improved social outcomes. He has developed a methodology for estimating the carbon footprint of mental health care and has published research papers about how psychiatrists can change their clinical practice to reduce the economic and environmental impact of care. He has produced reports for the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and the Royal College of Psychiatrists about how doctors can act to improve the sustainability of clinical practice. He also is joint lead for the Psychiatry Department’s award winning podcast series. He is joint college lead for the Choosing Wisely initiative.
