Considering graduate research?

UNIQplus is the University of Oxford's graduate access programme, designed to give talented undergraduate students from under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds an opportunity to experience postgraduate research at Oxford.

Through UNIQplus, participants undertake a research project with the support of Oxford academics and take part in a programme of academic, professional and social activities. The programme is intended to help participants develop their research skills, learn more about graduate study and make an informed decision about whether postgraduate research is right for them.

If you are considering graduate study in Psychiatry, UNIQplus can provide an opportunity to gain research experience and find out more about postgraduate research at Oxford.

Eligibility criteria and programme arrangements can vary from year to year. Visit the University website for current information about UNIQplus, including eligibility and how to apply.

Funding your graduate studies

ACADEMIC FUTURES

The Department of Psychiatry is pleased to support the University's Academic Futures programme, which aims to address under-representation and improve equality, diversity and inclusion within Oxford's graduate student community.

Academic Futures provides fully funded scholarships through a number of schemes. Depending on the scheme, funding may be available to:

  • UK Black and mixed Black students
  • British Bangladeshi students
  • British Pakistani students
  • students who have experience of being in care in the UK
  • refugees and others with lived experience of displacement.
  • students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, based on contextual eligibility criteria

Scholarships cover course fees in full and provide a grant for living costs for the duration of the award.

Eligibility criteria and application arrangements differ between the schemes. If you think you may be eligible, we strongly encourage you to read the University's Academic Futures pages for full details.

Other funding for under-represented groups

The University of Oxford offers a range of scholarships and funding opportunities designed to support access to graduate study for students from groups that are under-represented at Oxford.

Funding opportunities are available for applicants from a range of backgrounds and circumstances. These include scholarships relating to ethnicity, financial circumstances, refugee or displacement experience, nationality or country of residence, and other forms of under-representation.

The University's funding pages bring together information about these opportunities and explain how to find out whether you are eligible. Application arrangements vary: for many scholarships you will be considered automatically when you apply for your graduate course by the relevant deadline, while others require a separate application.

We encourage you to explore the available funding opportunities early and check the eligibility criteria and application requirements carefully.
