Michael is originally from Ireland, and works as a research assistant for the Psychological Medicine Research Group. He studied Applied Psychology at University College Cork before completing a Master's degree in Health Psychology at the University of Bath.
Michael has previously worked as a research assistant studying how parents can best support their school-aged children after a traumatic event, as well as for an NHS cancer clinical trials unit. He has also worked in more patient-facing roles, such as his time as a healthcare support worker at North Bristol NHS Trust.
His research interests include identifying and addressing the psychological needs of patients with chronic illness, the design and implementation of health behaviour change interventions, and the psychological management of ill health.
