I am primarily interested in the role of neurotransmitter dopamine in emotional processing. There is accumulating evidence implicating dysregulation of dopamine signalling in the onset of affective disorders, such as Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and Anxiety Disorders. As such, dopamine neurotransmission appears to be an auspicious focus of research.

Gaining further insight into the role this neurotransmitter plays in emotional processing could help us to further understand the pathogenesis of affective disorders and in turn, help us to develop more effective methods of treating these conditions.
