This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of the informant-based questionnaire AD-8, in detection of all-cause (undifferentiated) dementia in adults. We will present data for each healthcare setting where AD-8 may be employed (community; primary care; secondary care). Where data are available, we will describe the following: 1. Accuracy of AD-8 for early detection of cognitive problems, where a later diagnosis of dementia is made (delayed verification diagnosis). 2. Effects of heterogeneity on the reported diagnostic accuracy of AD-8. Potential sources of heterogeneity that we will explore include: case mix of cohort; method of dementia diagnosis; method AD-8 assessment.
