Clinical Researcher, Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist
My main area of interest is in the use of evidence-based strategies to answer real world clinical questions in mental health. Recently, I have been leading a multidisciplinary group of researchers and clinicians from the Oxford Precision Psychiatry Lab in developing summaries of guidance for mental health clinicians to help in addressing clinical problems presented by COVID-19. This has involved collaboration with national and international experts in the fields of telepsychiatry, suicide and self-harm, perinatal psychiatry and domestic violence research (https://oxfordhealthbrc.nihr.ac.uk/our-work/oxppl/covid-19-and-mental-health-guidance/).
I also have an interest in research in the psychopharmacology and cognitive impacts of mood disorders. As part of my work on the NIHR Oxford Cognitive Health Clinical Research Facility, I am involved as a researcher in complex cognitive health research working with Principal Investigators, research networks, local R&D, and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. More recently I have been involved as Principal and Chief Investigator in a study of cognitive dysfunction after recovery from clinical depression. I have an Honorary Consultant contract with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and work clinically in the Bipolar Disorder Research Clinic.
