Dr Sophie Behrman wins Higher Psychiatric Trainee of the Year and Dr Michael Bloomfield wins Core Trainee of the Year.

At a ceremony in central London, hosted by Alistair Campbell, on 10 November, Dr Sophie Behrman’s work at Oxford Health Foundation Trust was recognised and celebrated, including her co-organising an ageing conference for students and young doctors.

Klaus Ebmeier, Professor of Old Age Psychiatry at the University of Oxford Department of Psychiatry says: "Sophie is one of our stars. She single-handedly has created a regular shadowing and job exploration session for 6th formers in Oxford: Psyched-up for Medical School, and was the co-organiser with Charlotte Allan of this year’s Oxford Conference of Ageing and Psychiatry funded by Health Education England and for the resulting podcasts.

Sophie BehrmanDr Sophie Behrman, says: "I’m honoured to receive the award and am really pleased that the College have been so enthusiastic about the Psyched Up for Medical School scheme and ever so grateful to everyone in the Trust who’s helped me to see it to fruition and the team who are running it while I’m on maternity leave.  I am grateful to my clinical supervisors over the years for my training from medical school to the present day and their encouragement in all my extra-curricular projects, as well as colleagues in the University department who have supported me with academic interests."

 

Dr Sophie Behrman is an Oxford graduate, and current trainee in Oxford Health Trust, and Honorary Clinical Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford.

Dr Michael Bloomfield is an Oxford medicine graduate, and trained in psychiatry in London.
