Clara Albiñana

PhD

Lundbeck Postdoctoral Fellow

Clara is a postdoctoral researcher in statistical genetics in the Wray group at the Big Data Institute.

The main goal of Clara's research is to bridge the gap between diverse mental health outcomes and their underlying biological mechanisms. She works on developing and applying statistical methods to help understand the relationship between blood biomarker levels and a broad range of adverse mental health outcomes like schizophrenia or treatment resistant depression, contributing towards personalising psychiatric diagnoses and treatment.

Prior to joining the University of Oxford, Clara received her PhD in statistical genetics in 2023 from Aarhus University (Denmark), where she worked on polygenic risk score method development. She was also part of the Niels Bohr Professorship team led by Prof. John McGrath investigating the genetic and epidemiological relationship between vitamin D blood levels in neonates and psychiatric outcomes later in life.
