Head of Operations and Engagement

  • Oxford Centre for Emerging Minds Research

Emily is the Head of Operations and Engagement for the new Oxford Centre for Emerging Minds Research.  The centre is funded by the Paul Foundation and led by Professor Cathy Creswell. 

The mission of the centre is to conduct world class research that contributes to a world where differences between people are understood and accepted, strengths are capitalised on, and mental health difficulties are prevented or addressed early.

Recent roles

Between 2022 and 2025 Emily worked as the GROW Programme Manager for the NIHR Mental Health Research Incubator. GROW is a professional development programme for early career researchers in mental health and addiction which has been funded by the NIHR since 2022. 

She also worked with the Oxford Health Biomedical Research centre managing the Mental Health in Development theme. This has included helping to establish a new Parent Carer Research Network to ensure that the priorities and experiences of parents and carers are heard in mental health research.

Emily previously worked with Professor Cathy Creswell to run the Emerging Minds research network funded by UK Research & Innovation.  Between 2018 and 2022 the network worked across the UK.  The focus was to encourage and enable research collaborations to reduce the prevalence of mental health difficulties experienced by children and young people.

Professional background

After graduating in biology, Emily spent over 15 years working in a range of charities such as WaterAid leading programmes and partnerships. Emily completed a Masters in Psychology with the University of Liverpool in 2019.  Emily has a keen interest in organisational and coaching psychology.
