Psychiatrist & Clinical Researcher

Investigating novel therapeutic interventions and clinical outcomes for Treatment-Resistant Depression.

Profile

I am a Psychiatrist and Clinical Researcher at the University of Oxford, based in the Department of Psychiatry. My current work focuses on treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and is conducted at Warneford Hospital. My clinical and academic interests centre on mood disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions, and evidence-based psychiatric practice.
I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health and Psychological Medicine and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Neurodevelopmental Conditions at the University of Chester. My training brings together clinical psychiatry with a strong interest in neuroscience and translational approaches to mental health research.
Before joining Oxford, I worked in clinical psychiatry and public mental health across the Middle East. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I served as a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in the Kurdistan Regional Government and contributed to public health communication and awareness initiatives. I also have more than a decade of experience working with national and international organisations, including the World Health Organisation, working on humanitarian programmes, post-conflict mental health initiatives, and health service provision.
In addition to my clinical and research work, I continue to be involved in mental health advocacy and public communication. I have contributed to media discussions, academic panels, and public education initiatives aimed at improving awareness and understanding of mental health.
I am still serving as the Vice President of the Kurdistan Psychiatric Association and continue to support initiatives that strengthen psychiatric services and professional collaboration in the region.
