Photovoice
What is Photovoice?
Photovoice is a creative research approach that enables participants to read and reflect on their experiences. Participants are provided with a disposable camera or provide images taken on mobile phones. These are then discussed with the researchers and other participants.
Why Photovoice?
Photovoice offers the opportunity for participants to share visual representations of their experiences and concerns. This method has been used to promote dialogue about particular individual, social, community and political concerns with messages reaching stakeholders and decision makers.
Below is a video where photovoice participant Raf Hamazia and expert by experience Doreen Joseph, share their thoughts about photovoice.
This is followed by an information sheet outlining what is involved in photovoice.
