The National Institute for Health Research – NIHR – the research arm of the NHS, describes what being an SI means: 'Senior Investigators are the NIHR's pre-eminent researchers and represent the country's most outstanding leaders of clinical and applied health and social care research. Senior Investigators are fundamental to the formation of the NIHR Faculty.
I am honoured to have been made an NIHR Senior Investigator, along with several other colleagues from the University. NIHR is a major funder of clinically relevant research and provides an important bridge between the University and the NHS. It is therefore important that as clinical academics we engage with and support its work
