MD, MMEDSCI (Pharmacology)

DPhil Student

I am a DPhil candidate under the supervision of Prof. Philip Cowen and Dr Beata Godlewska. My DPhil project investigates ebselen, a lithium mimetic, as a potential add-on drug for clinically depressed patients with inadequate response to current antidepressants. The research project involves assessing the antidepressant potential of ebselen using emotional processing tasks as a surrogate biomarker. Also, the project involves neuroimaging techniques of magnetic resonance spectroscopy and resting state functional connectivity to elucidate the mechanisms of ebselen in the targeted population.
