Fitri Fareez Ramli

MD, MMEDSCI (Pharmacology)

DPhil Student

I am currently a DPhil student under Prof. Philip Cowen and Dr Beata Godlewska. The primary research project for my DPhil is related to ebselen, a lithium mimetic, as a potential drug for treatment-resistant depression. The research involves elucidating the mechanism of ebselen using surrogate antidepressive markers and neuroimaging techniques. I am the Khazanah-Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Merdeka Scholarship Program recipient for my DPhil study.

My previous research focus was on the adverse effects of methadone on the male reproductive system. My primary research interest is psychopharmacology focussing on pharmacodynamic aspects.

I am a Medical Lecturer at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, National University of Malaysia. Before my academic appointment, I spent several years working in a general hospital and two psychiatric institutions in Malaysia.

I completed my Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree from Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia and my Master in Medical Sciences (Pharmacology) from the National University of Malaysia.
