What is Photovoice?

Photovoice is a creative research approach that offers the opportunity for participants to share and reflect on their experiences. Participants are provided with a camera to take photographs or provide images taken on a mobile phone. They then reflect on and add captions to their images, and they are invited to discuss these with the researchers and other participants if they wish to.

Why Photovoice?

Photovoice has been used to promote dialogue about particular individual, social, community and political concerns with messages reaching stakeholders and decision makers.

Below is a video where photovoice participant Raf Hamazia and expert by experience Doreen Joseph, share their thoughts about photovoice.

Below if an information sheet outlining what is involved in the photovoice workshops in the Co-PICS study.
