I currently work as the research data manager for the ongoing BrainWaves cohort study, a longitudinal study of adolescent mental health and wellbeing that began data collection in 2024.

I built the study’s longitudinal dataset and documentation system from scratch while data were being collected across different waves. I designed and developed the processes for linking, cleaning, organising, harmonising, and preparing the raw data for researchers, creating derived variables and questionnaire scores, and developing the data dictionary and user manual that describe the structure and organisation of the longitudinal dataset.

I also produce statistical summaries, graphs, and reports for the study using reproducible code in R and Stata. This work takes place within the Dementias Platform UK Trusted Research Environment, where sensitive health data are managed under strict governance and data protection procedures.

Alongside BrainWaves, I have worked with other large longitudinal population health studies, including ELSA, NSHD, ALSPAC, and SHARE. In these projects, I have prepared tailored research-ready datasets to support a range of research questions. I have also used statistical methods such as regression and Structural Equation Modelling in my research.

The part of my work I enjoy most is bringing order and clarity to complex health data. I enjoy designing datasets, creating clear documentation, and using code to make data accurate, consistent, and easy for other researchers to understand and use.

I have an interdisciplinary background, with an MSc in Brain Sciences from the University of Glasgow, an MA in Clinical Psychology, and an M.Arch in Medical Architecture. Together, these disciplines bring scientific understanding to the design and organisation of complex research data.
