Psychiatry University Engagement Programme: “Disaster”
Dr Mina Fazel, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford and a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist in the Department of Children’s Psychological Medicine at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Tuesday, 05 February 2019, 1.30pm to 3pm
Ashmolean Museum (staff entrance)
This is the second of our three-part series for Hilary Term - The Unknown: "Precipitating Factors" - in which we aim to promote discussion and reflection on topics related to the consequences of unexpected changes and events in the lives of patients (and clinicians), issues of stress/adaptation/resilience, and working with diagnostic and therapeutic uncertainty.
Our special guest for this session - Dr Mina Fazel - is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford and a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist in the Department of Children’s Psychological Medicine at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She has been working for almost two decades on mental health issues concerning refugee populations, who have often been exposed to considerable ‘disasters’ and to many potentially traumatic events.
