Professor Lennox is the first female Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford. She is also an Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist in the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) service for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Since joining the Department in 2012, Professor Lennox has led research into the causes and treatment of psychotic illness. Her current research is in the autoimmune basis of psychosis and she jointly runs a clinic with neurologists to assess and treat people with autoimmune psychosis, as well as, running a clinical trial to test out this new approach.
I'm so delighted to be given this title and to be the first female professor of psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry. I'm looking forward to carrying on with my research and improving diagnosis and treatment for those with serious mental illness. I hope that there will be many women joining me soon, as being a clinical academic psychiatrist is certainly the best job in the world!
