Andrew Molodynski

Andrew Molodynski is a consultant psychiatrist at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and honorary senior lecturer at Oxford University, UK. He has worked in community psychiatry for twenty years and been actively involved in research in the field for fifteen. The main focus of his research has been with the social psychiatry group in Oxford and he was been a member of the OCTET study team for several years. He is currently involved in several randomised trials of wider mental health care in collaboration with Queen Mary University and University College London. A major focus of late has been medical student welfare and a collaboration across 15 countries to assess the current world state of play.

 He has also published on social and occupational functioning in people with severe mental illness and on different forms of service provision. He has co- edited an international collaboration on coercion in mental health care,co- authored book chapters on assertive outreach, coercion, inpatient care internationally,and adult safeguarding and has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is the chair of the World Association of Social Psychiatry working group on coercion and coordinates their website (www.coercioninpsychiatry.com) which aims to provide education and links for interested parties.

 Andrew is the deputy national lead for the NIHR Clinical Research network and closely involved in efforts to bring research ever more into routine mental health care. He is also the mental health lead for the British Medical Association and works closely with policy makers and politicians on the future of services.
