Rod Macrae

Communications Manager, DPUK and BrainWaves

I'm working with the Dementias Platform UK and BrainWaves teams managing communications for both programmes.

For DPUK I am maintaining and updating the website, creating content for social media and part of the team organising our annual Translation conference and other events including DPUK Datathons. There is a lot of coordination required with partners and collaborators too.

BrainWaves is a new initiative, with most of its communications being built from scratch. With education, research and young people all participants, the challenge is matching our communications to each audience.

Before coming to Psychiatry, I was a radio and TV journalist with Reuters, the BBC and ITV, before  managing my own comms consultancy. That was where my love of science emerged with projects ranging from polar science and exploration to hydrogen fuel cells, transport, climate change, sustainability and even business support.
