Ryan Parsons
Postdoctoral Researcher
I am a Postdoctoral Researcher working primarily on BrainWaves, with a particular focus on the development of a new cohort study investigating adolescent mental health and well-being. My current research makes use of mixed-methodology, with interests in paediatric psychology, positive psychology and chronic pain.
Prior to joining the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford, I completed a PhD in Psychology at the University of Bath in 2023 and a MSc in Cognitive & Clinical Neuroscience at Goldsmiths, University of London in 2017. I undertook my undergraduate education in South Africa (where I was born and raised), completing a BMus degree with double majors in music and psychology.
My PhD research investigated adolescent chronic pain, with a novel focus on positivity and flourishing, while my MSc research was focused on investigating suggestibility as a predictor of placebo hypoalgesia responsiveness.
