Research Assistant
I am a research assistant on the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre Flourishing and Wellbeing Theme located within the Neuroscience, Ethics and Society (NEUROSEC) research group. Our research aims to contribute to the establishment of a robust national mental health infrastructure and promote social justice principles by evidencing how public institutions, workplaces, and community actors can support flourishing and mental health in all citizens, guided by ethical standards. Currently, I also contribute to the Agile initiative Sprint which explores the provision, efficacy, and robustness of Nature-based Programs for mental health and wellbeing in young people, delivered through schools.
Prior to my role at NEUROSEC, I completed a BSc (Hons) in Social Psychology at the Open University, followed by an MSc in Clinical Mental Health Sciences at University College London (UCL). Following that, I completed NHS-funded training as a psychological wellbeing practitioner and received my PGCert in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Interventions from University College London (UCL). I have worked across a range of NHS and humanitarian settings, with a focus on supporting marginalised communities in crises and those who have experienced trauma.
As a first-generation academic with lived-experience of forced displacement, I am deeply committed to collaborating with communities and stakeholders as equal partners in research to address health disparities and promote equity. My interests also include the ethical aspects of patient and public involvement, particularly issues of power dynamics, informed consent, and representation.
