Contract details and entitlements
Whilst not the most exciting part of your new job, it is important to read through your contract and understand the terms and conditions. More information is provided in the University staff handbooks (see below). If you have any questions, you can contact our HR Administrator who will assist you.
ANNUAL LEAVE
The number of days paid holiday you are entitled to each year will be specified in your letter of appointment. University holiday entitlement is based on 38 days inclusive of 8 public holidays (pro rata if part time). The Department doesn’t have any fixed closure days.
pay dates
Your pay will be credited directly to your bank account on the penultimate working day of the month, except for December when pay is credited before Christmas.

UNIONS
All staff have the right to join any trade union. However, the University recognises three trade unions for the purposes of collective representation of separate staff groups: UCU (University and College Union), Unite (previously known as Amicus) and UNISON.
