Three members of the Department of Psychiatry have been appointed Associate Professors by the University of Oxford's Medical Sciences Division.
Rob McCutcheon, Vanessa Raymont and Andrea Reinecke have all been conferred the title Associate Professor for making a significant and sustained contribution to the university’s goals through research, teaching and citizenship.
Professor Vanessa Raymont researches traumatic brain injury, memory disorders, dementia, and clinical trials in cognitive impairment. She is also the Director of Research and Development at the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and an Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist.
She said: “I am delighted to be awarded an Associate Professorship and want to especially thank John Gallacher and colleagues at Dementias Platform UK for all their support. I feel privileged to work in such a collaborative and supportive department.”
Professor Andrea Reinecke uses neuroscience to develop brief combination treatments for anxiety disorders and depression. She recently received a Brain Science Fellowship. She said:
“I feel very honoured to have been awarded this title. This achievement would not have been possible without my wonderful team of very hard-working, enthusiastic students and research assistants, and the support of some of the most inspiring mentors in and beyond Oxford, including Belinda Lennox, Eni Becker and Catherine Harmer. I am looking forward to continuing our important work on the development of more effective psychological treatments for emotional disorders.”
Professor Rob McCutcheon’s work aims to develop better ways of helping people with psychotic disorders like schizophrenia. He is also a Wellcome Clinical Research Career Development Fellow and an Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist. He said:
“I am very grateful for the appointment, and look forward to continuing to work with such a great group of people in an excellent department. It is a real privilege to be able to work with interesting people on interesting problems, thank you to all the collaborators, funders, and students that make this possible.”
Professor Belinda Lennox, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, said: “Huge congratulations to Rob, Vanessa and Andrea, whose deserved appointments demonstrate the breadth of excellent and impactful brain and mental health research in the Department of Psychiatry.”
