SUPPORTING CARE STAFF TO COMMUNICATE THE DEATH OF A RELATIVE

We have developed a guide and animation to support care staff with the painful task of contacting families by telephone to tell them that a loved one has died from COVID-19. The first guide takes the care staff through this difficult phone call step by step. This includes identifying if the resident had an important relationship with any children. We have created a second guide for families that can then be emailed to the family to support them to tell any children.
