Anthony James

Research

I am child and adolescent psychiatrist and NHS consultant at the Highfield Unit and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Oxford. I am also a DPhil student (Professors M Fazel & D Freeman are my supervisors).

Currently, I am working on the self-conscious emotions of shame, guilt, and pride in eating disorders in adolescence. I have completed a large school survey (SGPED Student Survey) to explore these emotions and eating in young people aged 11-18 years. The next stage is to run a similar but shorter survey of those who suffer from an eating disorder (ED) to see how we can measure these emotions clinically with the ultimate aim of improving treatment.  For further information on what the research is about please see the video (https://vimeo.com/908725905?share=copy ) or contact me via email: anthony.james@psych.ox.ac.uk.
